Athletics Department Increases Resources for Needy Students The University of South Carolina athletics department will commit $15 million over 15 years for university academics -- primarily need-based student scholarships. University Athletics Director Eric Hyman and President Harris Pastides made the announcement on Monday (Dec. 22). President Pastides Addresses Budget Concerns In a letter to faculty, staff and alumni of all eight campuses, University of South Carolina President Harris Pastides outlines in detail the revisions to the budget, pledges a commitment to teaching, research and service; and reaffirms the mission of Carolina. Carolina Senior Awarded Marshall Scholarship Elizabeth Nyikos, an Honors College senior, has been awarded the prestigious 2009 Marshall Scholarship, offered to 40 or fewer students per year. This award supports graduate study in the United Kingdom.
