Attention, New Graduates: This Checklist Is for You!
Congratulations, new and soon-to-be graduates! Check out this listing of ways to keep your Carolina connection strong and ease the transition from student life to the working world...
□ Review Your Benefits
You enjoyed being a student member while you were on campus. Now you can take advantage of one year of complimentary alumni membership! All graduates in the Class of 2013 have been sponsored by My Carolina members for one year of membership in My Carolina. We hope you will enjoy this gift that our alumni are giving to you! Be sure to tell your friends in other graduation years about how much My Carolina means to you and encourage them to join, too.
□ Tell Us
We want to know about your memorable experiences at the University of South Carolina. Please share them with us by answering the question, "What does 'My Carolina' mean to you?"
My Carolina Club Network has more than 50 clubs scattered across the country. Whether it’s a football game-viewing party, happy hour, networking event or philanthropy project, My Carolina Clubs help to bring Gamecocks together!
Stay in Touch
When you relocate, please remember to give us your new contact
information. You can call us at (800) 476-8752, email us at
firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the online directory to update your information. When your University email address expires, please send
us your new one so we can send you the monthly e-newsletter and invitations to events in your area.
□ Locate Classmates*
Log in to the alumni directory and begin searching for former classmates... and possibly future employers, too!
*Please allow approximately six weeks from the date of your graduation to be entered into the alumni database, at which point you can begin using the directory.
Wear Your Ring
Wear your ring with pride! Even if you missed the Official Ring Ceremony, it’s not too late to purchase your Official University of South Carolina class ring. We have heard countless stories of graduates who have identified each other as Carolina alumni by noticing one's class ring. It's a networking tool that can form instant bonds with other Gamecocks!
Apply to join the Columbia-area Young Alumni Council, a group of alumni within 10
years of graduation that plans events and activities for fellow recent
Carolina graduates; help coordinate, or plan to attend, a Freshmen Send-Off in a club area anywhere in the country to support Carolina's newest students; or become a part of GARNET, the national Gamecock Alumni Recruitment Network, to assist in the search for the best and brightest high-school students as the future of your University!
□ Make Your Promise
Read a little bit about "Carolina's Promise," the unprecedented, ambitious and achievable billion-dollar campaign for your University, and you'll see that even the most modest donation is a contribution that can help strengthen Carolina in a major way.
Protect Your Belongings
Make sure that all of your possessions are covered for the unexpected by signing up with Nationwide. You can save up to 20 percent when you "bundle" your insurance!
Prepare for Graduate Work
If you are continuing your education, My Carolina members get an exceptional
discount on test-preparation classes provided by the Office of Continuing
Education and Conferences.
