Advocate

As an advocate, you have a powerful voice for the future interests of Carolina. It’s up to people like you to shape others’ opinions on behalf of the university.

Who can become an advocate?

Anyone with an interest in the University of South Carolina can become an advocate. Our network includes alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends of the university.

Becoming an advocate for Carolina means that you are taking an active part in letting our elected officials know how you feel about selected legislative issues.

What do advocates do?

Our advocates are a network of volunteers who work together to increase awareness regarding particular legislative issues. Advocates communicate with elected officials in various ways including e-mails, letters, phone calls, and personal visits. My Carolina simply communicates with the advocates whenever we need support in contacting legislators on particular issues of interest to the University of South Carolina.

What is required?

Becoming an advocate can take as little or as much time as you have to give. Wewill notify you whenever particular legislative issues arise, and you will simply contact your particular legislators by using a pre-written e-mail message or your own, by calling their office, or by meeting in person. No meetings or membership fees are required; however, we invite you to consider becoming a member of My Carolina Alumni Association if you aren't already.

One of the primary roles of My Carolina is to help raise awareness of higher education in general and the important role the University plays in improving the state of South Carolina.

As an advocate for higher education and the University of South Carolina, your collective voices go a long way in helping us continue to make South Carolina healthier, more prosperous and more vibrant.
