Volunteer Spotlight: Kelsey Jones

young alumni

By: Haven Spanyer

Kelsey is currently the Executive Director for Institutional Advancement at West Georgia Technical College, but working at another institution doesn’t stop her from giving back to her alma mater!

Kelsey Jones graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2015 with a Master of Education in Higher Education and Student Affairs. She currently works as the Executive Director for Institutional Advancement at West Georgia Technical College.

Though Kelsey did not attend UofSC as an undergraduate, that did not prevent her from getting involved as a student. During her time at South Carolina, Kelsey was a member of the Student Personnel Association and the Chi Sigma Alpha honor society.

As an alumna, Kelsey stays connected with UofSC by serving on the Young Alumni Council (YAC).  YAC is made up of 15 volunteers, each one representing alumni in a heavily Gamecock—populated market across the country or world. Kelsey sits on the Young Alumni Council as the Atlanta, GA representative.

“I was motivated to serve on YAC to give back to my alma mater and better engage with my fellow Gamecocks in Atlanta.”

Though the UofSC campus is beautiful, it isn’t the only reason Kelsey loves South Carolina.

“UofSC is special because of its people! The diverse, committed, and truly generous alumni base, students, faculty, staff and fans are unlike anywhere else.”
